What did you find most challenging about selecting a topic? If you did not find topic selection challenging, why were you confident that the topic you selected was the right choice for the year-long project?
The most challenging part of selecting a topic was deciding between a biology based project and a project revolving around my ethnic background. I became very indecisive and had a difficult time making up my mind, because both topics were extremely important to me. In the end I was able to combine my love for biology, and my drive to help orphaned children in Vietnam, in one project. I was also able to incorporate my passion for writing and my artistic abilities into my project.
What steps did you take to secure your mentor? Why do you feel your mentor is the best fit to help you throughout your project?
I acquired my mentors number from my mother. I then called him and explained my project. My mentor was ecstatic and agreed to help me and be my mentor through the entire process. I believe Rob is the best fit for me because he is an experienced artist and has extensive knowledge of various painting techniques.
What actions/steps will you take to work on your project during the 2nd quarter?
I will meet Rob almost every weekend, painting with him. I will also be diligently working at home, drafting the pages.
